Meet the team
Doggy Ventures Bristol was founded in 2011 by myself, Catherine Whiteman. It began from my love of caring for my own pets at home, and walking my own dog. I 'm a keen cyclist and a regular user of the Bristol and Bath cycle path. Many of the exit points are close to some lovely parks and woods - great places to walk the dogs. At the start I was walking just a couple of dogs around the Eastville and fishponds areas. Since then the business has expanded to include other types of pet care and we now cover the surrounding areas also.
Most of my time is now taken up running the Doggy day care and Dog grooming service I run from my home in Eastville, walking dogs and managing the administrative side of the business.
Completing a professional dog walker certificate from the Royal college of canine studies reaffirmed much of what I was already practicing. I have made some of this material available for the rest of the team to study including useful aspects such as introducing a new dog to existing dogs, understanding dogs body language, communication, basic training techniques and adopting a calm, assertive persona with the dogs.
Meet Carly - Seen here pictured with her own cat Elizabeth. Carly covers most of the pet sits and dog walks in Clifton, Redland St Paul’s and surrounding areas.
Carly’s first love is for cats which is evident by the fact that she regularly volunteers at a local cat shelter for stray cats in need, giving up her own time (for free) to feed, play with and generally make a fuss of them!.
Since walking dogs at Doggy Ventures over the past 18 months Carly’s passion for working with dogs has grown also rapidly catching up with the cats! She has developed a good working relationship with them adopting a calm, assertive persona.
Carly is confident and competent with walking up to 4 small to medium sized dogs together and also happens to be a bit of a fitness enthusiast and so is quite content with cycling and walking dogs for hours at a time!.
Meet Andrea - Having been pet sitting and walking dogs with doggy Ventures since October 2014, Andrea is an experienced and competent member of the team. This is reflected throughout her interactions with the dogs and their responses to her.
It is clear to see that she has a genuine care for the welfare and development of the dogs she looks after.
Andrea is competent with walking dogs together in groups of 3 to 4 (size dependent) and is particularly good working one-to-one, focusing on recall practice, lead walking (on the way to the park) and other basic training techniques.
Andrea lives locally and in keeping with our green ethos happily cycles the short distance to and from pet sits and dog walks in Easton, Greenbank, St George and surrounding areas.
